Dugout Dice — Privacy Policy
Steam version
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Dugout Dice is a dice-rolling baseball game made by one independent developer. This policy covers the Steam version — what the game itself collects, what it never collects, and what happens to it. The short version: the game has no accounts of its own, no ads, and no personal information — just a small amount of anonymous gameplay analytics. Buying, downloading and running the game through Steam is separately governed by Valve's own privacy policy, which is described below.
What the game collects
The game uses PostHog, an analytics service, to record anonymous gameplay events: things like how long a session lasted, and milestones such as finishing a game or a season. Along with these events, PostHog receives a randomly generated identifier that stays the same on your device between sessions (a string of characters created on your device — it is not your name, email, or any account), basic device information such as browser and operating system type, and an approximate location (city level) derived from your IP address. None of this is linked to your real identity, and we have no way to connect it to you.
That is the only thing the game itself sends anywhere. It does not read your Steam profile, your friends list, your library, or anything else on your PC outside its own folder.
What Steam collects
Steam is run by Valve Corporation, not by us. Your Steam account, your purchase, your payment details, your playtime and anything you post in reviews or the community hub are handled by Valve under the Steam Privacy Policy, which you can read at store.steampowered.com. We have no control over it and no access to your Steam account.
As the developer, what we see from Valve is aggregate, anonymous store reporting: how many copies sold, wishlists, refund rates, and broad regional and playtime summaries. It arrives as totals and charts about a population of players, never as a list of people, and it cannot be traced back to you. Your Steam account name is visible to us only if you choose to write a review or post on the game's community hub, which are public by design.
The game does not use Steam achievements, leaderboards, friends features, or Steam login. It never sees your Steam password or payment information. All Plus features are included in the full Steam game; the game does not query your account for a separate upgrade.
Buying the game
The full Steam game is a one-time purchase that includes all Dugout Dice Plus features. There is no separate Plus DLC, in-game upgrade purchase, or subscription. The Steam demo is a separate, limited version of the game.
Buying the game happens entirely in Steam, under your Steam account and Valve's privacy policy. The game cannot take a payment and never sees your payment details. Included Plus features work offline without a separate purchase check and are not linked to the anonymous analytics above.
What is never collected
The game has no accounts of its own and no sign-in, so it never asks for your name, email address, or any contact or payment details. It contains no advertising, does not track you across other apps or websites, and no data is ever sold or shared for marketing.
Where your saves live
Game progress — seasons, unlocks, records, settings — is stored in the game's own folder on your PC and never leaves it. There is no cloud save, no account, and no server: the developer cannot see, restore, or delete your progress. Uninstalling the game or clearing its folder permanently deletes it.
Service providers
Analytics data is processed by PostHog Inc. (hosted in the United States) solely to provide the analytics described above; they do not use it for their own purposes. Distribution, payment for the game and the Steam client are provided by Valve Corporation under its own privacy policy.
Children
Dugout Dice does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The analytics described above are anonymous for all players.
Your choices
Because analytics are tied only to a random identifier, we cannot look up data about a specific person. If you have questions, or want us to delete analytics data and can identify it (for example from the identifier stored on your PC), email the address below and we'll do our best to help. Anything held by Valve — your account, purchases, reviews — is managed through your Steam account settings, and requests about it go to Valve.
Changes to this policy
If the game ever starts collecting something new, this page will be updated first, with a new "last updated" date at the top.
